Laila Yaghi Fights for her Son’s Freedom 11/18 by Vicki Chats | Blog Talk Radio
The courts of North Carolina incorrectly translates the Arabic words “shahid” (witness) and “Fard ayn” as violent jihad without making a distinction to the context in which its use was employed within video recordings against seven innocent Muslims accused of terrorism in 2009. Such specious evidence was used to convict these men.
It is salient to mention that Ziyad Yaghi, was on none of the 750 hours of recording yet imprisoned 31 years for refusal to lie against the others accused whom some he never met in his life. The government of North Carolina translated this into meaning “refusal to cooperate with an investigation,” and thus punished Ziyad.
North Carolina’s government has a translation impediment.
