Israel Live-Blogs and Tweets Attack on Hamas, Uploads Killing To YouTube
Over the last seven hours, the social media accounts have catalogued the damage done in Gaza — including the targeting of “dozens of Hamas’ medium range underground rocket launching sites and other weapons storage facilities” — while at the same time trying to do damage control in the public relations domain.
The IDF Twitter account invites followers to “read up” on Jabari to understand why the Israeli military killed him and is sending out links to video and articles about Hamas’s past attacks on Israel. At the same time, the IDF is uploading the military intelligence it used for targeting to its blog, including photos of the military sites targeted and video allegedly showing Hamas hiding rockets at one of the underground sites targeted.
If it wasn’t clear before, Twitter, blogs, and YouTube can be used as weapons. This is one of the most explicit examples of that.
